Boatshop24 is a new media publisher working in the boat and yacht industry. They have a suite of magazines and websites closely affiliated with those of their parent company, Friday Holdings.
My role at Boatshop24 was to maintain two high volume PHP4 / MySQL websites (www.boatshop24.co.uk and www.boatshop24.com). These two sites are the market leaders for the UK and Europe, receiving over 15 000 000 page impressions a month between them. This entails both day to day maintenance and the provision of new technologies and services such as XML based data exports and embeddable JavaScript widgets. I am also responsible for overseeing the PHP development, providing direction and expertise to the development team. I have recently created a suite of custom libraries written in PHP4 to support the specialised services available via the websites, which included a simple application development framework.
